Lead Carpenter - Full-Time

MRBCC / Build Yo Deck is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join its growing team. This is a full-time position with an immediate start and a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Role Overview

Lead high-quality custom deck projects from layout through finish details.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience framing and building custom decks using both traditional wood and composite materials. This position requires someone who can lead projects, work efficiently, maintain excellent attention to detail, and consistently produce high-quality results.

Candidates who already work with a dependable laborer or apprentice are strongly encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities

What this role will lead.

Lead the framing and construction of custom wood and composite decks

Complete deck layouts, framing, stairs, railings, and related structural components

Follow applicable local building codes and 2021 IRC requirements

Review project plans, measurements, layouts, and material requirements

Maintain a high level of accuracy while completing projects efficiently

Identify and resolve construction or job-site challenges

Assist with and oversee residential window and door installations

Direct laborers or apprentices when assigned

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site

Communicate professionally with homeowners, crew members, and management

Travel directly to assigned residential project locations

Required Qualifications

What MRBCC needs from the right candidate.

At least five years of deck framing and construction experience

Experience building both composite and wood decks

Strong knowledge of local building codes and 2021 IRC standards

Understanding of residential window and door installation processes

Ability to lead projects and supervise other crew members

Strong measuring, layout, framing, and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing workmanship

Valid driver's license

Ability to provide and maintain the tools required for the position

Ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds

Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding construction work

Dependable, punctual, and professional when working at customers' homes

Compensation

$30-$40 per hour based on experience.

Final pay within this range depends on deck framing experience, wood and composite deck experience, leadership ability, tools, reliability, and the level of responsibility the candidate can take on in the field.
